An altitude of 4000 feet provides the high/dry climate which produces warm summers and mild winters. The residents of the area enjoy sunshine on an average of 290 days a year. Winter snow fall is normally light (2 to 4 inches at a time). Average rainfall is 14 inches per year.

Klamath Lake

Oregon’s largest lake – over 30 miles long. Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge is located on the west shoreline of Upper Klamath-Agency Lake.


With over 100 lakes, rivers and streams in Klamath County, this area offers some of the finest fishing in the U.S.


Klamath County has some of the best hunting available. The Klamath marsh is excellent for waterfowl hunting, especially ducks and geese. Antelope, deer and other game animals are also found in Klamath County.

Water Sports

Upper Klamath Agency Lake is one of the finest water-skiing and sailing lakes in Oregon. One may ski or sail across Agency Lake into upper Klamath Lake, where it is possible to ski or sail for 30 unobstructed, straight miles.


Uncrowded slopes and beautiful surroundings provide excellent downhill and cross-country skiing and snow-mobiling. Crater Lake National Park, world famous for its beauty, offers fantastic cross-country skiing.


There are 5 golf courses. Facilities include practice range, dining room and swimming pool. Located here in Klamath County at the Running Y Ranch Resort is Oregon’s only Arnold Palmer- designed golf course, recently rated #1 by Golf Digest Magazine. This course is open to the public and costs only $45 for 18 holes of golf.


Klamath International Airport – 10,301 ft. cargo qualified and pad runway. Restaurant, lounge, car rental agencies and rental spaces are available. Alaska Airlines provides air service to Klamath Falls.


Klamath County District has 5 high schools, 18 elementary and 5 middle schools. The Oregon Institute of Technology is located in Klamath Falls. There are also several parochial schools in Klamath County.
